Banja Luka profileert zich als een aantrekkelijke bestemming voor een korte vakantietrip. Vanaf 2 november zal Ryanair twee keer per week vanaf Charleroi op deze bestemming vliegen. Banja Luka is de regionale hoofdstad van Republika Srpska, een van de twee entiteiten van het land Bosnië en Hercegovina. Tegenwoordig is het een van de belangrijkste toeristische attracties van de stad met o.a. een restaurant een speeltuin en een park. Banja Luka wordt omringd  door bossen en heuvels, welke talrijke mogelijkheden bieden voor wandeltochten, picknicks en ontspanning.

Adrenaline op de Vrbas rivier

De Vrbas river staat in de top van de meest aantrekkelijke rivieren in Europa en is een favoriete bestemming voor adrenaline liefhebbers. Het Vrbas Adventure Resort, dat op slechts 20 km ten zuiden van Banja Luka ligt, biedt talrijke mogelijkheden om te raften, canoën en kajakken,  van ontspannende tochten tot aan wild avontuur en echte adrenaline ervaringen. Er zijn 3 verschillende routes met een lengte van 5 t/m 21 km en ervaring is niet noodzakelijk aangezien men begeleid wordt door ervaren gidsen. Het avontuur eindigt met een lunch in een restaurant aan de rivier en eventueel een duik in de Vrbas rivier. Uniek is de mogelijkheid om ’s nachts te raften op een verlicht deel van het parcours, het enige verlichte slalom parcours in de open lucht in de wereld.

Na het raften kan men nog een bezoek brengen aan een van de uitzichtpunten met een prachtig uitzicht over de canyon van de Vrbas rivier of genieten van een ontspannende pauze bij de nabijgelegen Krupa watervallen. Op deze plek mondt de Krupa rivier uit in de Vrbas, met een prachtig panorama uitzicht over de watervallen en een oude watermolen en er is tevens een korte wandelroute naar een nabijgelegen klooster. Langs de Vrbas rivier zijn ook een aantal ruïnes van middeleeuwse stadjes te vinden zoals Zvačaj, Greben and Bočac.

Verken de ongerepte natuur

Tussen Mrkonjić Grad en Šipovo ligt een gebied met ongerepte natuur met talrijke mogelijkheden om te wandelen, mountainbiken, bergklimmen en vissen. Een goed startpunt om het gebied te verkennen is het Pecka Bezoekerscentrum, dat aan de voet ligt van een berg welke de grootste natuurlijke klimwand van Bosnië en Hercegovina is. Het bezoekerscentrum fungeert als informatiecentrum, biedt eenvoudige accommodatie aan natuurliefhebbers en serveert organische maaltijden met ingrediënten uit eigen tuin en de directe omgeving. Het is ook een goed startpunt voor wandel- en mountainbiketochten in de omgeving. Plaatsen die de moeite waard zijn om te bezoeken zijn de bronnen van de Sana en de Pliva rivier, de watervallen van Janjske Otoke en ecozone Zelenkovac. Of ga net als de locals barbecueën, lunchen of picknicken midden in de natuur!

Een andere goede uitvalsbasis om dit prachtige gebied te ontdekken is het stadje Šipovo, dat een aantal basisvoorzieningen voor toeristen biedt zoals een VVV-kantoor en een fietsverhuur. Het toeristische complex Pliva, slechts enkele kilometers buiten het stadje biedt uitstekende familieaccommodatie in de vorm van luxe bungalows op een prachtige plek aan de Pliva rivier. De Pliva rivier staat tevens bekend om zijn uitstekende mogelijkheden om te vliegvissen.

Wellness en ontspanning

Republika Srpska biedt uitstekende mogelijkheden voor een wellness- of gezondheidsvakantie. Naast de gezonde natuurlijke omgeving, zijn er verschillende thermen en kuuroorden voor ontspanning, wellness en rehabilitatie.

Banja Vrucica is het grootste spa complex van geheel Bosnië en Hercegovina vlakbij de stad Teslic op ongeveer 90 km afstand van Banja Luka. Bereikbaarheid

Vanaf 2 november vliegt Ryanair twee keer per week vanaf Charleroi naar Banja Luka, met vluchten op maandag en vrijdag, waardoor het een ideale bestemming is voor een midweek of weekend break. Eurostar, de hogesnelheidstrein die het Verenigd Koninkrijk met het Europese vasteland verbindt, rapporteert vandaag een positief derde kwartaal 2017. Het aantal passagiers steeg met 4% (2,69 miljoen in 2017 t.o.v. 2,58 miljoen in 2016) en de omzet met 15% (211 miljoen Britse pond in 2017 t.o.v. 184 miljoen Britse pond in 2016) in vergelijking met vorig jaar.

Deze resultaten weerspiegelen een drukke zomervakantieperiode, ondersteund door een sterke prestatie in de eerste zes maanden van 2017. In de afgelopen drie kwartalen is het passagiersvolume met 2% gestegen (7,73 miljoen in 2017 t.o.v. 7,55 miljoen in 2016) en de omzet met 12% (666 miljoen Britse pond in 2017 t.o.v. 593 miljoen Britse pond in 2016) jaar-op-jaar.

Toename van internationaal verkeer en zakenreizen

De groei van Eurostar in 2017 werd gekenmerkt door een aanzienlijke toename van het aantal passagiers van buiten Europa, met name de VS.

Het aantal reizigers uit de VS en de rest van de wereld groeide met respectievelijk 24% en 18% jaar-op-jaar, omdat reizigers profiteren van de gunstige wisselkoers om naar Europa te komen en van de culturele attracties en winkelmogelijkheden te genieten.

De positieve prestatie van het bedrijf werd ook gestimuleerd door een sterke groei in de zakenreismarkt, waarbij het aantal zakelijke passagiers in de eerste negen maanden steeg met 6% en zelfs met 10% in kwartaal 3. Zakelijke klanten waarderen steeds meer het comfort, het gemak en de productiviteit van de hogesnelheidstrein tegenover het vliegtuig.

Vroege stijging van aantal kerstboekingen

Deze laatste weken heeft Eurostar een verschuiving in de kerstboekingshorizon gezien, met een stijging van 29% van de reserveringen voor de vakantieperiode t.o.v. hetzelfde moment vorig jaar. Terwijl in 2016 klanten hun reis later in het jaar boekten, scoren boekingen voor het huidige winterseizoen opvallend goed bij reizigers van het Europese vasteland die een shoppingtrip naar Londen plannen, en bij Britten die naar de Europese kerstmarkten willen.

Nicolas Petrovic, CEO Eurostar: “De groei die we in de eerste helft van het jaar hebben gerapporteerd, heeft zich in de zomer doorgezet en we zien ook een grote instroom van de VS en het verdere buitenland. [Hong Kong ▪ 12 October 2017] Hong Kong Airlines has announced that it will launch a new non-stop service between Hong Kong and San Francisco from 25 March 2018.
The new service will expand the airline’s presence in North America, following the launch of its services to Vancouver on 30 June 2017 and Los Angeles on 18 December 2017. Hong Kong Airlines will also be looking to further enhance connectivity to the US by launching a service to New York later in 2018.
The timing of the new service ensures that travellers arrive in San Francisco early in the morning – particularly enticing for those seeking to maximise their time in The Golden City. In turn, an evening arrival back in Hong Kong guarantees passengers a restful sleep, following a long flight.
Hong Kong Airlines’ new Hong Kong-San Francisco service will be operated by its brand-new Airbus A350. The fuel-efficient widebody aircraft features a total of 334 seats, with 33 in Business Class, 108 in Economy Comfort and 193 in Economy Class.

All Business Class seats have a width of 23” and are able to fully recline into a flatbed. This, combined with specially designed smooth and soft bedding, will ensure that passengers can enjoy the highest quality of sleep in the air. Meanwhile, all seats are also equipped with the latest high-definition TV screens offering a variety of inflight entertainment options, including movies, television, news and music. In 2017 COTTM attracted over 4300 Chinese trade buyers and more than 450 exhibitors from 70 countries and is the only exhibition that is 100% business to business and 100% outbound.

COTTM was selected as the first venue to host a China-based event in the 2018 programme – a B2B matchmaking between European businesses and Chinese operators will take place, as well as a thematic conference on EU-China cooperation on tourism with a focus on the particular draw of family travel to Europe.

The European delegation is working closely with the China Tourism Academy (CTA) to deliver a conference programme within the COTTM programme to demonstrate the very best of Europe’s offer to the outbound Chinese market.
